So, we (and by "we," I mean "I, but I don't like to single myself out in any negative capacity") complain about life not treating us fairly.
And, then, it suddenly does.
For most of those who've actually dedicated themselves to complaining about how "nothing is fair" (again, that's... really just, me) it's rarely a good thing when fairness happens.
We grasp and clutch at anything we can get for ourselves, and push away that which could actually lend itself long-term to a satisfying and fulfilling existence for us. Sure, I've had my problems to deal with, but who hasn't..? And I can only blame myself for not dealing with them. I may, or may not, have had bigger troubles in certain areas than most people, but I've seen people who had huge obstacles in their path overcome them to reach the same destination as others have striven to reach, and they've found it proportionately more rewarding. I KNOW this. I FEEL it. Thus, everyone is right... all of those who've given me a place to live when I lost my job, money for rent when I was hundreds of miles away, food to eat when a paycheck was drained by an unexpected bank overdraft which shouldn't have been all that unexpected and, honestly, really shouldn't have happened at all. I have only myself to blame.
But they were wrong about one thing.
Life is absolutely, utterly, and inescapably FAIR.
Goddammit.
